PRESS RELEASE – 22ND February 2021: NSSLGlobal, the satellite communications provider based in Merstham, has donated 20 refurbished laptops to nearby Bletchingley Village Primary School, helping it to deliver its online learning programme for its pupils.
The school, as with all others across the UK, has had to adapt to the nationwide lockdown restrictions, moving classes online as many pupils are unable to attend lessons in person. The refurbished laptops, were today presented to Bletchingley Village Primary School Headteacher, Debbie Gregori, who thanked NSSLGlobal for their generosity during a difficult time, “We are very grateful to NSSLGlobal for the donation of these laptops; it’s so encouraging to have a local company responding to help us. The past 12 months have been exceptionally testing for teachers, pupils, and parents, as we have all adapted to the changes in education. These laptops will enable us to connect more of our pupils, as we continue to deliver lessons at home and school.”
The school has over 200 pupils, 100 of whom are currently in school as the children of key workers, and will make really good use of the laptops, some of which will be used at home and some on-site. Crispin Blunt, MP for Reigate, welcomed the community coming together, “Helping our most vulnerable children get equal access to education during this crisis is essential and I want to thank NSSLGlobal for its support of local schools, parents and children. I’m sure their donation of these laptops will help teachers at Bletchingley Village Primary School to keep their pupils motivated and also appreciate the importance of sustainable use of our resources for the planet.”
Claire Coutinho, MP for East Surrey and the school’s local MP, added “I want to say a huge thank you to NSSLGlobal for donating these laptops. Throughout the pandemic, I have been in constant contact with school leaders and have been privileged to witness their fantastic work in the most difficult of circumstances. We all know the scale of the challenge ahead, as we work to alleviate the effects of the past year. NSSLGlobal’s generous donation today will go a long way in assisting these efforts at Bletchingley Village Primary School.”
Sally-Anne Ray, Group CEO of NSSLGlobal, who presented the laptops, commented, “We saw an email from the school requesting laptops for its pupils. We had just purchased new ones for our staff who are themselves currently working from home. We’re always keen to re-use and recycle where possible and we’re delighted that local children will benefit.”
