Our General Manager John Burke and Director of Sales, Tiffany Chung, CEM alongside Mei Phing Tan and the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) team, engaged in a meaningful dialogue with YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) to advocate for stronger support and growth of Malaysia’s business events (BE) industry. The discussion highlighted our industry’s significant achievements and contributions to both tourism and the country’s economic development. Key points included the importance of aligning Malaysia’s business events strategy with the global market by focusing on major markets where most international associations are based. Our GM also emphasised the need to strengthen local associations by expanding membership, fostering international alliances, and supporting bids for global conferences. The Centre’s active role in destination marketing, along with its partnerships with ASM Global (APAC) and industry associations such as UFI, The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, ICCA, and AIPC—where our GM serves on UFI’s Board— can play a crucial role in securing international conference bids. Sustainability was another focus, with the KLCC Sustainable September initiative positioning Kuala Lumpur as a leader in sustainable BE practices, meeting the growing demands of eco-conscious organisers and delegates. The meeting concluded with a call for greater ministry-level collaboration, financial backing for strategic initiatives, and leveraging government influence to secure high-value international conferences. This dialogue reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to advocating Malaysia as a leading business events destination through collaboration, innovation, and strategic focus. #TheLegendsWay #klccconventioncentre

SaaSiest Amsterdam 2024 was an amazing event. Thanks Daniel Nackovski, Thomas Sjöberg, Saasiest team members, and all the amazing speakers. What makes it a great event: ✅ Great speakers and knowledge sharing ✅ You meet many like-minded people ✅ Many networking opportunities ✅ Great food and beverage ✅ Awesome party 🪩 🕺🏼 and other activites to meet new people 🎾 🏃🏼➡️ Many people already made great recaps of the event, but there is one thing that stand out to me that no one mentioned yet. GIVE BEFORE YOU GET. So many speakers shared knowledge and content that they would normally charge companies for. Nathan Latka, was giving away his book Kevin "KD" Dorsey, the templates that he and his GTM teams use daily Merel van der Lei, UX best practices manual the list goes on... As a #partnerships professional I know that these are built upon the give and take principle, but this applies pretty much everywhere in business, and also in personal relationships. Help someone, provide them value, will put you in an easier position to ask something back if needed. See you next year #saasiestamsterdam

I am currently in Bangkok 🇹🇭 with the Mikskaar team, exhibiting at a trade show Horti ASIA. Over the past few years, I have delved deeply into the differences between low and high-context cultures and have started to notice some distinctions. Thailand 🇹🇭 is a high-context culture, but this doesn't mean that all Thai people adhere strictly to these cultural norms. The biggest challenge is to be creative in different situations while communicating. For example, two years ago, I made a mistake by providing a lengthy explanation of how things should be done in the exhibition hall. Although the staff were Thai, in some situations, you need to be simple and clear. Typically, high-context cultures are not straightforward, but there are instances where simplicity and clarity are necessary. Today, for instance, I ordered additional services from the NCC team. They have set up four categories to help exhibitors, each responsible for a different area: furniture, electrical equipment, and lighting, graphics, and so on. There was no point in explaining to the person in charge of electrical equipment that a print needed to be added. Initially, I did just that because I was used to dealing with one person and didn't immediately realize I was talking to the wrong person. Once directed to the right person, my problem was solved in one minute. I wasted three minutes explaining to the wrong person due to my mistake instead of going directly to the correct person (by the way, they had BIG signs on the desk, which I just didn’t read). They solved it in 30 seconds. ➡ This is just one example from today, but I counted around eight similar moments in one day. 💡 Takeaway: Be creative and read signs. The fantastic team behind this trade show is very well organized, and communication has been clear and effective! My special thank you Kamolchanok Nantaburom! #highcontextculture #thaiculture #hortiasia #exhibitions #tradeshows

Excited to announce the publication of our study, co-authored by Francisco Carballo-Cruz and me, in the prestigious journal Current Issues in Tourism! This project was truly a pleasure to work on. Our innovative research focused on historic food markets, using the beautiful Bolhão Market (Porto, Portugal) as a case study. We aimed to identify which elements of the market most influence visitor satisfaction and their revisit intentions. Here are some key takeaways: 🔎 Authenticity, Physical Environment, Products, and Market Aesthetics play a significant role in driving visitor satisfaction and revisit intentions. 🔎 Interestingly, Price and Events do not impact satisfaction or revisits. 🔎 First-time visitors value the Physical Environment more. 🔎 Repeat visitors prioritize the Market Aesthetics. ✔ If you're interested, you can access the full article through this link (the first 50 downloads are free): https://lnkd.in/dFNFfR3U A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this work! #MercadodoBolhão #foodmarkets #UniversityofMinho #NIPE #CurrentIssuesinTourism
